Kah Lawyers received a difficult Visitor visa grant just before the 2024 holidays. The applicant had been previously denied a Visitor Visa because of her origins in Myanmar, which the Department deems a ‘risky country’, notwithstanding her being a permanent resident of Japan.

With the help of Kah Lawyers, the applicant was able to provide evidence that she would return to Japan after her two-week visit to Australia. Evidence of her integration into Japanese society, the lack of current ties to her home country of Myanmar, and her clean travel history were presented. The Department accepted that the applicant had a genuine intention to visit her family in Australia and would return to Japan thereafter.

Happily, the applicant was able to spend Christmas in Australia with her family following the visa grant.
